Title:               Scaling New Heights to Master Multiplication

Time:              7 pm for 7.15 pm start. Finish 8.45 pm.

Summary:      Participants will be invited to work on tasks which focus on scaling, because it is the core idea behind multiplication, and the sooner children encounter scaling, the better. Working with elastics affords access to multiplication with continuous quantities; working geometrically on the line and in the plane reveals an unexpected property when scalings are compounded.   It will be suitable to teachers of KS 1, 2, 3,and 4.

Cost:               Free if you are a member of MA or ATM, otherwise £2
