Listening to resit students' voices using poetic methods

26 November 2024

Listening to resit students' voices using poetic methods with Rachel Helme

The voices of students who are required to resit their mathematics GCSE is key to understanding the experience in FE college. In this session I will share stories told by students to demonstrate the range of experiences, both before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. I will discuss ideas around how poetic methods can help focus on the themes and emotions related to the stories being told.

About Rachel:

Rachel is a Lecturer of Education at the University of Bristol. Her main role is as a PGCE tutor working with secondary mathematics teachers. Her PhD focused on listening to the experiences of students labelled as low attaining, specifically those who are required to resit their mathematics GCE at a post-16 college.
