The MA Conference for Teachers of Secondary Mathematics Archive
Stirling

17 September 2011 - 6 September 2014

9th MA Conference for Teachers of Secondary Mathematics was held at the Pathfoot Building at Stirling University, Saturday 6th September 2014

Changes to the mathematics curriculum: threat or opportunity?

The Keynote address was given by Lynne McClure and explored what happens to teachers' expectations when curricula and the associated assessments change. Lynne was appointed as NRICH project director in March 2010. Immediately before joining NRICH, she lived in Scotland where she worked with beginning teachers at Edinburgh University, and led her own very successful consultancy into maths education which took her all over the world. Until last year Lynne was a member of ACME, the advisory group which consults to ministers. She chaired the redrafting groups for the primary and secondary English national curriculum documents for mathematics.

There was a wide range of workshops, talks and discussion groups covering many aspects of Teaching and Learning, as well as broader aspects of mathematics. The event attracted Scottish secondary school teachers as part of their CPD entitlement and a certificate of attendance was issued.

The fee continued to be held at £75.
