The committee exists to promote the professional development of teachers of mathematics.

Most recently, the Committee has been finding ways in which we can implement the Membership survey results and feedback.

Using Risps with A level students.

Headline:  Jonny Griffiths talks Rich Starting Points (Risps) for A level students.’ Some ideas will be of interest to those teaching KS4 are adaptable for KS3.

Summary: The first meeting of the Birmingham Branch will take place on Monday 3rd October.  We are delighted that Jonny Griffiths will be running the session.  Jonny used to write a regular column for TES based around stories from his classroom. He now works for Cambridge University helping them develop resources for their ‘Underground Mathematics’ website. For our session he will be working with us on some of the Rich Starting Points (Risps) developed for A level students. Some of these ideas will also be of interest to those teaching KS4 as well and can be adapted for KS3. As always, the session will also be about us enjoying doing mathematics together!  Download the flyer which has more info about RISPS.
