David Singmaster 1938 - 2023 13 February 2023

We were saddened to have learnt of the passing of David Singmaster on Monday, 13th February, after a long illness. A self-confessed metagrobologist, David wrote many books on puzzles, including Rubik’s Cube, their solutions and the sheer joy of recreational mathematics.

Those who visited his home report that it was almost impossible to leave, “ ...have you seen this one?”. 

David made several contributions to the Mathematical Gazette.
