New Honorary Members of the MA 7 November 2025

We are delighted to announce that the following members have been awarded Honorary Membership of The Mathematical Association: Dr Chris Pritchard and Bill Richardson (MBE). Honorary Membership is awarded in recognition of outstanding contribution to mathematics or mathematics education and only in exceptional circumstances. Chris and Bill have dedicated many years to the Mathematical Association, all working across the editorial teams of our journals, as well as other roles as committee members, trustees and Presidents.

Dr Chris Pritchard

Chris is a retired teacher, prominent mathematics educator and author who dedicates his time to mathematics education, particularly in Scotland. Chris currently co-editor of Mathematics in School and has held a number of positions on Council, being Secretary and Chair of Teaching Committee. He continues on Council currently as a Member without Office. Chris was also President for 2021-22.

William P Richardson MBE

Bill Richardson has devoted decades of distinguished service to the Mathematical Association, beginning in the 1990s and continuing to this day as Company Secretary and Member without Office on Council. Over the years, his steadfast commitment has left an indelible mark on the Association. Bill has been instrumental in the production and typesetting of The Mathematical Gazette since 1995, ensuring its continued excellence and influence. In 1996 he served as President, and has since held several key executive positions, including Chair of Council, Secretary, Editor-in-Chief, and Treasurer of the MA.
