The Mathematical Gazette - call for papers and peer reviewers

The Mathematical Gazette has been published since 1894. From 2026, it will be published by Taylor & Francis on behalf of the Association for Mathematics in Education (AMiE).

The Gazette is not an educational research journal, but it's also not a cutting-edge mathematical research journal. The focus is on mathematics content - looking for interesting bits and insights from mathematics, its applications, and the history and culture of mathematics. The aim is to interest teachers at school, college, or university wanting to enrich the curriculum. The level is approximately from the later-stage of school to early-stage university, and the audience is global. Papers are usually either Notes (2-5 pages) or Articles (5-10 pages).

We are also looking for new reviewers to read submissions, give an opinion on whether they are suitable for publication, and check the mathematics. Each paper is sent to two reviewers, who have a few weeks to do the review. You are sent a no-obligation invitation to review with manuscript details to help you decide. The Editor hopes that this is a worthwhile and interesting role for AMiE members who understand what would interest teachers. At worst, hopefully it is a quick job (and really helpful!) to tell the Editor a submission is esoteric and not likely to be of broad interest, and at best you might get a new fun or interesting piece of mathematics to play with.

If you would like to become a reviewer, please email the Editor, Peter Rowlett, on gazette@amie.org.uk with a short description of your mathematical areas of interest, so he can send you suitable papers to review.
